Let’s clean up our Communities.
How about a "clean-up" day within our Community Centers and neighborhood? There is continuous, illegal dumping that occurs in the communities. Citizen support to help "clean-up" the neighborhood on a future Saturday may inspire more community involvement and a renewed interest in maintaining a shipshape neighborhood. I am open for suggestions from the community in regard to a "clean-up" in your neighborhood.
Graffiti Clean-Up
Another pilot project under consideration for implementation at the centers is a program working in conjunction with the Probation Department. In essence, those who commit "tagging" crimes and defacing of property with graffiti may be sent to the centers to complete their community service. This may involve supervising the probationer for 2-3 hours. Restitution in these cases, for example, could be having the "tagger" "paint" over graffiti within the radius of the local community. I will be meeting with HSA staff to discuss the dynamics of installing a program of such a nature into the centers.
