August 26, 2014 - EMS Office Closure

San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed Monday, September 1, 2014, the office will re-open with normal office hours on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

August 26, 2014 - 2014 Prehospital Care Symposium

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency is presenting a Prehospital Symposium on November 7, 2014, beginning promptly at 9:00 am (registration begins at 8:30 am) at the San Joaquin County Agricultural Center.Click here for flyer and additional information. This course is being offered at no cost. Upon the successful completion participants will receive a course completion certificate for 3 hours of EMS Continuing Education and/or BRN Contact hours. August 18, 2014 - Save the Date: 2014 SJC Prehospital Care Symposium

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency will be hosting the 2014 SJC Prehospital Care Symposium on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The Symposium will include topics such as Spinal stabilization, MICR/ROSC, Stroke and Trauma. All prehospital care providers including MICNs, Paramedics, EMSs and EMRs should plan to attend. More information coming soon.

August 1, 2014 - Release of Request for Proposal (RFP)

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency is soliciting proposals to award an exclusive operating area (EOA) for emergency and advanced life support (ALS) ambulance services and emergency medical dispatch starting May 1, 2016. The RFP document and schedule of events are available at www.sjgov.org/ems/rfp2014.htm

July 3, 2014- Reviews Policies Posted

Revised policies effective July 1, 2014, have been posted on the EMS policies webpage.  Please take time to read all policies and become aware of all the changes.  The policy changes are effective immediately.  All EMS personnel are encouraged to quickly become fully knowledgeable of these policy changes.

July 1, 2014 - AMR Compliance Report for March and April 2014

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency has completed its evaluations of American Medical Response for March 2014 and April 2014 performance under their five-year contract to provide exclusive emergency ambulance service. The AMR contract establishes accountability for meeting specific standards and provides the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on AMR's operational, clinical, and administrative performance. 2014 Paramedic Preceptor Applications Due by July 31, 2014

The 2014 Paramedic Preceptor applications are due by July 31, 2014. Applications are available on the Paramedic Preceptor Authorization & Re-authorization page.. The application to the EMS Agency must be submitted with a letter of recommendation from your ALS employer verifying that you are in good standing with that employer and the employer intends to use you as a paramedic preceptor. The REACH on Tour San Joaquin County conference brought to you by REACH, San Joaquin County EMS Agency, and American Medical Response will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the San Joaquin County Office of the Agricultural Commissioner, 2101 E. Earhart Ave., Stockton, CA 95206, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (registration begins at 7:00 am). The conference is open to all EMS providers and offered at $29.00 per person (includes lunch). May 30, 2014 - AMR 2014 Skills Training

American Medical Response is offering skills training the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month from 09:00 to 15:00. This opportunity is open to all providers that would like to refresh their necessary quarterly airway skills and/or their infrequently used skills. American River College is hosting an EMS Summer Educational Series: Best Practices on June 6, 2014, from 7:30 am to 3:45 pm. May 19, 2014 - AMR – Trauma and MCI Lab Training

American Medical Response is hosting a free Trauma Lab and MCI Lab training on Friday, May 30, 2014, at 400 S. Fresno Ave., Stockton. The Trauma Lab is from 0900-1300 (4 hours of EMS CE) and the MCI Break-out is from 1400-1800 (4 hours of EMS CE). This training is open to all EMS providers at no cost. May 2, 2014 - Measles case reported in San Joaquin County

San Joaquin County Public Health Services announced a case of measles has been reported in San Joaquin County.  Public Health staff are identifying and contacting residents who were probable contacts to the case, to evaluate their immunity status and if needed recommend intervention. March 27, 2014 - CALCORD Reprogramming Notification

In compliance with theJanuary 2014 California On-Scene Emergency Coordination (CALCORD) Radio Plan and to ensure uninterrupted communications,  the San Joaquin County EMS Agency is requesting all providers communicating on CALCORD to reprogram their radios to include the new Continuous Tone-Code Squelch System (CTCSS) effective 0800 hours on Thursday May 15, 2014.

After May 15, 2014, neighboring air and ground ambulance providers and other potential users of CALCORD in San Joaquin County should use the 2014 Continuous Tone-Code Squelch System (CTCSS) programming when communicating on CALCORD to ensure interoperability between providers and agencies. March 7, 2014 - 2014 ALS Field Treatment Manual is Available for Purchase or Download

The pocket sized "2014 ALS Field Treatment Manual" is now available for purchase at the EMS Agency. As you are aware, all ALS ambulances are required to carry an ALS policy manual (although, not necessarily pocket sized). The price for each manual is $15.00. March 4, 2014 -French Camp Fire District Reserves Host Annual Pancake Breakfast

The French Camp Fire District Reserve Firefighters Organization will be hosting their annual Pancake Breakfast Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 7 am to 12 noon at the French Camp Fire Station, 310 E. February 12, 2014 - Northern California SIDS Training for Emergency Personnel and Health Professionals

The Northern California SIDS Training for Emergency Personnel and Public Health Professionals is Thursday, March 20th, 2014. Click here for the flyer. The training will be held at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Wentworth Education Center, Burwood Auditorium, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton, CA 95206. February 5, 2014 - 2014 EMS Administrators' Association of California Conference

This conference, scheduled for May 28 and 29, 2014 in San Diego is the premiere conference for multi-disciplinary EMS leaders statewide. This year's conference topic is "Adapting to the Sea Change" and features speakers discussing the critical issues facing EMS Systems, public and private sector EMS providers, and other emergency organizations and departments. Speaker topics include: Changes in Public Health, Following and Leading during Transformational Change, EMS Research, MCI (Asiana 214) and Terrorist Bombings, EMS Economics and Financial Challenges, Changes in Clinical Care, and Community Paramedics. January 28, 2014 - Revisions of the Ambulance System Plan available for 7-day Public Comment Period

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency is soliciting comments on revisions to the draft 2014 Ambulance System Plan. The EMS Agency made several revisions to the draft Ambulance System Plan following the 30-day public comment period. The Ambulance System Plan shall serve as the foundation for the development of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for emergency ambulance services scheduled to be released by the County in the spring of 2014. The Ambulance System Plan describes the structure and operation of emergency ambulance service and prehospital care services in San Joaquin County. Comments must be received in writing at the EMS Agency by February 4, 2014.

January 21, 2014 - 2014 Paramedic Preceptor's Conference Schedule

The 2014 Paramedic Preceptor's Conferences are scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2014, and Monday October 20, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, in the San Joaquin County EMS Agency Classroom.  The conferences are open to current Paramedic Preceptors and offered at no cost.  Attending one conference per year is required to maintain a Paramedic Preceptor Authorization.  The format is round table discussion and will include the following topics: best practices, evaluation & remediation, communication, roles & responsibilities, and reportable offenses.  The moderator will be Adam Dampier.  Up to two (2) hours of instructor-based, EMS CE will be offered. January 10, 2014 - EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2014-01 - Paramedic Report of Traumatic Arrest

EMS Policy Memorandum 2014-01, Paramedic Report of Traumatic Arrest provides guidance on the application of EMS Policy No. 5783 ALS Adult Trauma Treatment. In summary, this memo states the elapsed time from cardiac arrest to arrival at the trauma center is a key factor in determining whether or not the attending physician or surgeon will perform a thoracotomy. During radio presentation and upon arrival at the trauma center all paramedics are directed to immediately inform the trauma team of the time of cardiac arrest.
