May 21, 2015 - EMS Office Closure in Observance of Memorial Day

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed Monday, May 25, 2015, the office will re-open with normal office hours Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

May 20, 2015 - AMR Compliance Report for January - February 2015

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency has completed its evaluations of American Medical Response for January 2015 and February 2015 performance under their five-year contract to provide exclusive emergency ambulance service. The AMR contract establishes accountability for meeting specific standards and provides the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on AMR's operational, clinical, and administrative performance. May 18, 2015 - June PAO and PSR courses cancelled

May 18, 2015 - Lay Rescuer Epinephrine Auto-injector Regulations open for 15-day Public Comment

The Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) is proposing to add Chapter 1.9 to Division 9, of Title 22. This Chapter of regulations will establish minimum training and standards for certification of off-duty prehospital emergency medical care persons and lay rescuers in the use and administration of the epinephrine auto-injector as authorized by Health and Safety Code Section 1797.197a.  The public is invited to submit written comments on the proposed regulations during the 15-day public comment period from May 16, 2015 through May 30, 2015.  Comments can be submitted to Corrine Fishman by email at corrine.fishman@emsa.ca.gov  or by fax at (916) 324-2875, or sent to our mailing address at 10901 Gold Center Drive, Ste.400, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.  The proposed regulation text, certification application, response to comments received during the 45-day public comment period and comment table are attached to this message for your review.  These documents are also available for review on EMSA's website at http://www.emsa.ca.gov/Public_Comment.  If you are unable to access the website and would like a copy of the proposed Chapter 1.9 regulations mailed, faxed or emailed to you or if you have any questions, please contact Corrine Fishman by calling (916) 431-3727, or by email at Corrine.fishman@emsa.ca.gov.

May 18, 2015 - National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Course

San Joaquin County EMS Agency is hosting two National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training courses on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the San Joaquin County Agricultural Center, 2101 E. Earhart Ave., Stockton.  Click here for flyer and additional information. This course is being offered at no cost. Upon the successful completion participants will receive a course completion certificate for 4 hours of EMS Continuing Education. April 28, 2015 - Ambulance Compliance Reports for November - December 2014 Completed

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency has completed its evaluations of American Medical Response for November 2014 and December 2014 performance under their five-year contract to provide exclusive emergency ambulance service. The AMR contract establishes accountability for meeting specific standards and provides the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on AMR's operational, clinical, and administrative performance. The San Joaquin County EMS Agency has also completed its evaluations of Escalon Community Ambulance and Manteca District Ambulance for November 2014 and December 2014 performance under their exclusive emergency ambulance service agreements. These contracts establish accountability for meeting specific standards and provide the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on their operational, clinical, and administrative performance. April 2, 2015 - Prohibition Against the Use of Unauthorized Ambulance Services

The San Joaquin County Emergency Medical Services Agency (SJCEMSA) has ordered Day-N-Night Medic SAM Transportation Ambulance Service to cease the provision of unauthorized ambulance service in accordance with San Joaquin County Ordinance No. 4231. Any person or organization requesting or arranging the use of a non-permitted ambulance may be subject to civil or criminal penalties. March 6 - 2015 - 2015 Spring Prehospital Care Symposium

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency is presenting a Spring Prehospital Care Symposium on May 14, 2015; beginning promptly at 1:00 pm. (Registration begins at 11:30 am) at the San Joaquin County Agricultural Center. An EMS Appreciation Luncheon Provided by AMR from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.  Click here for additional information.  This course is being offered at no cost, prior registration required. Upon the successful completion, participants will receive a course completion certificate for 3 hours of EMS Continuing Education and/or BRN Contact hours. Provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 1524 for 3 contact hours. March 5, 2015 - EMS Agency Issues Policy Memorandum on National Shortage of Magnesium Sulfate

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency issued EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2015-02, National Shortage of Magnesium Sulfate. The Policy Memorandum addresses the issue of the national shortage of Magenesium Sulfate as it relates to local ALS policies and procedures. View the full document on the policies page.

February 12, 2015 - EMS Agency Issues Policy Memorandum on Transfer of Care in the Emergency Department

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency issued EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2015-01, Transfer of Care in the Emergency Department. The purpose of this policy memorandum is to provide direction to receiving hospitals and ambulance providers on the transfer of patient care between prehospital personnel and emergency department staff.  Ambulance Patient Offload Delays (APOD) at receiving hospitals have caused extensive wait times for arriving ambulance patients, while also negatively impacting the availability of ambulances for emergency responses occurring throughout San Joaquin County. It is incumbent on receiving hospitals and ambulance providers to minimize the time required to transfer patient care and return ambulances to service. EMS Policy Memorandum No. 2015-01 may be viewed on the Policies page. Prehospital providers should direct questions to Adam Dampier, EMT-P, Prehospital Care Coordinator. Receiving hospitals should direct questions to Jamie Nielsen, RN, EMS Trauma Coordinator.

February 12, 2015 - American Medical Response Autism Awareness Class

American Medical Response is hosting an Autism Awareness Class on February 16 and 20th, 2015, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The information will be presented by Jesus Zavala from Stockton Police Department & Marianne Sullivan, MSN, RN, and Regional Director of Autism Speaks. This is a free event with free EMS CE provided to participants. CA EMS CE provided by American Medical Response, CE Provider 39-0102. February 12, 2015 - 2015 Paramedic Preceptor's Conference Schedule

The 2015 Paramedic Preceptor's Conferences are scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2015, and Monday September 14, 2015, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, in the San Joaquin County EMS Agency Classroom. The conferences are open to current Paramedic Preceptors and offered at no cost. Attending one conference per year is required to maintain a Paramedic Preceptor Authorization. The format is round table discussion and will include the following topics: best practices, evaluation & remediation, communication, roles & responsibilities, and reportable offenses. The moderator will be Adam Dampier. Up to two (2) hours of instructor-based, EMS CE will be offered. CA EMS CE provided by San Joaquin County EMS Agency CEP#39-0001. These Bi-annual conferences are offered to maintain paramedic preceptor authorization. Please Note: If your Paramedic Preceptor Accreditation expires in 2015, you may attend the conference but it is not mandatory for re-accreditation.
