December 28, 2011 - EMS Office Closure

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed on Monday, January 2, 2012 and will resume normal business hours the following day.

December 22, 2011 - New PAO & PSR Study Guide

A new PAO/PSR study guide has been added to the website on the continuing education opportunities page. This is a pilot program and we look forward to your feedback. This learning platform will be improved with graphics and details as time permits. This study guide is subject to change; therefore, it is highly recommended to complete it within 2 weeks of your scheduled PAO/PSR course.

December 19, 2011 - EMS Office Closure

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will close at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011. The office will re-open with normal office hours Friday, December 23, 2011.

December 19, 2011 - EMS Office Closed for Christmas and New Years Day Holiday Observance

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be open during normal business hours during the holiday season, with the exception of Monday, December 26, 2011 and Monday, January 2, 2012, in which the office will be closed.

December 8, 2011 - AMR Compliance Report for September 2011 and October 2011

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency has completed its evaluation's of American Medical Response for September and October 2011 performance under their five year contract to provide exclusive emergency ambulance service. The AMR contract establishes accountability for meeting specific standards and provides the EMS Agency with complete access to data and information on AMR's operational, clinical, and administrative performance. November 23, 2011 - EMT Class Open for Enrollment

November 16, 2011 - EMSAAC Annual Conference

Save-the-date for the EMSAAC Annual Conference scheduled for June 5 – 6, 2012 aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Registration will begin in February 2012. Check the EMSAAC website for more information in coming months.

November 15, 2011 - EMS Providers: 2012 EMS Form No. 2011A is due December 9, 2011

This is a reminder that per EMS Policy 2011, Skills Competency Verification Process, authorized organizations shall annually complete and submit to the EMS Agency EMS Form No. 2011A Individuals Designated to Verify Skills Competency. EMS Form No. 2011A shall be submitted no later than the second Friday of December each year.

November 15, 2011 - Holiday Office Closure - Thanksgiving

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed Thursday, November 24, 2011, and Friday, November 25, 2011. The office will re-open with normal office hours Monday, November 28, 2011.

November 3, 2011 - Holiday Office Closure

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will be closed Friday, November 11, 2011. The office will re-open with normal office hours Monday, November 14, 2011.

October 27, 2011 - Transportation Committee Meeting Cancellation

October 17, 2011 - Selection of New EMS Specialist, effective October 24, 2011

Dan Burch, EMS Administrator is pleased to announce that Christine Tualla is being promoted to fill the role of EMS Specialist with the EMS Agency. Ms. Tualla will have primary responsibility for EMS personnel certification, licensing, and accreditation; EMS training programs; and administration of the EMS Maddy Fund. The EMS Maddy Fund uses penalties assessments from traffic fines to reimburse emergency physicians and other physician specialists for the delivery of uncompensated emergency medical care. Ms. Tualla has worked for the EMS Agency for the last 6 years and has been with San Joaquin County for the past 11 years. Please join us in welcoming Christine to her new position.

September 27, 2011 - PAO & PSR Course Schedule

A November 29, 2011, PAO and PSR class has been added to the training schedule. In addition, the 2012 PAO & PSR Course schedule is now posted on the upcoming training & events page.  Both courses meet on the same days and the classes will overlap. September 2, 2011 - Field Care Audit; LVAD Presentation added

The EMS Agency, San Joaquin General Hospital, and Stockton Fire Department are hosting a Field Care Audit on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, from 9 am to 1 pm at Stockton Fire Station #2 (Laws Classroom), 110 W. Sonora St., Stockton. The topics to be covered are: MCI Basics, Patient Destination Policy Review, E-Z IO Presentation, LVAD Presentation, Case Reviews, and ALS Quarterly Airway Skills. August 19, 2011 - Holiday Office Closure

August 18, 2011 - PAO & PSR Course Schedules Modified

The PAO and PSR class schedules have been modified so that both courses meet on the same days and the classes will overlap. August 8, 2011 - NIMS ICS All Hazards Incident Commander Course

The San Joaquin All Hazards Incident Management Team (SJAHIMT) is presenting a Department of Homeland Security/FEMA certified all hazards position specific course October 3 – 7, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the San Joaquin County Agriculture Center. Click here for flyer. This course is offered at no cost to participants, with funding from the State Homeland Security Program Grant. The course is intended to train members of the SJAHIMT, however participation is encouraged from non-member agencies and jurisdictions. July 28, 2011 - EMS Office Hours modified on July 29, 2011

The San Joaquin County EMS Agency office will close at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 29, 2011. Normal office hours will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011.

June 22, 2011 - Holiday Office Closure

June 22, 2011 - Paramedic Accreditation

The State EMS Authority has confirmed that the shortage of paramedic license cardstock has been resolved and that the backlog of paramedic license applications has been eliminated. Therefore effective today the EMS Agency will no longer issue temporary paramedic accreditation based on the status of a paramedic's license in the state's database. Paramedic accreditation applicants shall be required to adhere to the provisions of EMS Policy No 2540 and submit a copy of their current paramedic license with the paramedic accreditation application.

June 10, 2011 - EMS Policy Memorandum 2011-02, Patients with Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD)

EMS Policy Memorandum 2011-02, Patients with Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), which is effective immediately, has been added to the Policies web page in the Policy Memorandum section. This memorandum provides information and direction about the care and transport of patients who have a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). Please read, post, and share this memorandum with ALL EMS personnel, base hospital personnel and emergency department personnel.

June 10, 2011 - Draft Policies Available for Public Review

The EMS Agency is soliciting public comments on proposed new EMS policies and revisions to existing EMS Policies. The draft policies are available for public comment and may be viewed or downloaded from the Draft Policies web page.

Please submit your comments or suggestions using the comment forms provided on the Draft Policies web page no later than 5 PM, July 25, 2011. May 31, 2011 - EMT and AEMT Regulations opening for Public Comment

The EMS Authority is proposing to adopt the National Educational Standards and Instructional Guidelines for both the EMT and AEMT training program approval requirements. Along with these changes the EMS Authority is proposing to increase the minimum hours of training for EMTs from 120 hours to 160. The EMS Authority is also proposing to increase the minimum hours of AEMT training from 88 to 160. The National Registry of EMTs (NREMTs) will be converting to their new EMT examination based on the new instructional guidelines on January 1, 2012. The EMS Authority is asking the Local EMS Agencies to recommend to their approved EMT training programs to convert to the EMT instructional guidelines for the Fall 2011 semester in order to prepare their students for the NREMT examination. The EMS Authority anticipates opening the EMT and AEMT Regulations for public comment in the second week of June 2011. Click here for the EMSA announcement.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Authority relocation was postponed and is now scheduled to begin March 14, 2011 and end on March 18, 2011. EMS Policy Memorandum 2011-01, ALS Drowning/Near Drowning, which is effective immediately, has been added to the Policies web page in the Policy Memorandum section. The purpose this Policy Memorandum is to provide clarity and direction regarding potential conflicts between EMS Agency Policy No. 5734, ALS Drowning/Near Drowning and EMS Policy No. 5103, Determination of Death. February 11, 2011 - CAHAN Training

California Health Alert Network (CAHAN) Collaborator and Administrator Training will be held March 31, 2011 at the San Joaquin General Hospital. Two sessions will be offered, one from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, and the other from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. You must be enrolled to attend. Class size is limited. This training is FREE and open to all Health Alert Network (HAN) Coordinators from Hospital's in San Joaquin County and Stanislaus County, San Joaquin County Public Health, and Stanislaus County Health Services Agency. January 21, 2011 - San Joaquin Area Critical Incident Support Team Training - Course Full

The San Joaquin Area Critical Incident Support Team presents "CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management): Group Crisis Intervention & Peer Support Training," June 14-16, 2011. This course is designed to assist personnel from hospital, clinics, long term care facilities, behavioral health and ALS ambulance providers in developing a CISM team and offering services. This course is FREE to personnel from hospital, clinics, long term care, behavioral health and ALS ambulance providers in San Joaquin County who wish to know more about crisis intervention strategies. January 14, 2011 - ALS Skills Day at SFD Rescheduled

The January 20, 2011, ALS Skills Day - Needle Thoracostomy, Date and Time has been rescheduled. The new date and time for this training is February 3, 2011, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. This training will be hosted by the Stockton Fire Department at 110 W. Sonora St., Stockton.
