Programs
One to One Services - These
services are dependent upon levels of staffing within the
program and may be limited.
-
 Training: budgeting, banking, cost
effective shopping, self-esteem, decision making, health
relationships, planning and problem solving, health and birth
control.
- Assistance in seeking and
maintaining housing
- Assistance with seeking and
maintaining employment
- Identifying vocational goals
- Assist in collecting necessary
documents (Birth certificate, Social Security, CA identification
card, etc.)
- Coordinate special services
including: tutoring, therapy, medical and dental needs,
application process for Medical, SSI, and TANF
- Assistance with applying for
financial aid and scholarships
- Assistance to youth and care
providers in addressing emancipation issues
Social Development Activities
 Baby City
An experiential transition event that exposes youth to the
realities and responsibilities of parenting, caring for children and
their health needs, finding quality childcare and other community
resources.
End of Year Celebration
A social development event to celebrate the end of the school
year and the beginning of summer.
California Youth Connection
A program developed by youth, for youth. This program assists
youth in making change at the legislative level. Youth receive adult
support in lobbying at the legislative level for desired change in
the foster care system and improvement in the general quality of
life for foster youth while in care and after emancipation For

Tours
ILP provides tours to colleges and universities, vocational
educational institutions, California Conservation Corps, Job Corps,
Social Security, Worknet, DMV, Employment Development Department and
other appropriate institutions unique to a youth's need.
State ILP Youth Conference
These conferences provide workshops for youth and adults on
topics such as problem solving, addressing program needs and various
living skills topics. Entertainment is also provided and usually
focused around a theme, which is pertinent to program goals.
Conferences are held on college campuses where youth and adult
supporters spend the night either in dorms or in hotels in various
locations around the state.
Holiday Party
A social development event for ILP youth only designed to
promote social interactions, develop social skills and celebrate
holiday festivities as a group.
Incentives & Financial Assistance
 Due to state budget cuts, SJC ILP is no
longer able to offer financial incentives for workshop
participation.
Aftercare
 The
ILP aftercare program provides services to youth 18 to 21 years and
who are no longer dependents/wards of the court. This program is
able to assist youth with housing, employment, educational, medical
and emergency needs. Call your
local ILP program to see if you are eligible.
Housing
 Financial
assistance is available in the form of first month's rent and
deposit to qualifying after-care youth.
Project Hope
A permanent supportive housing
program for homeless and disabled youth, provided by Lutheran social
services of Northern California. Participants must be ILP
eligible and no longer a ward of the court. Project Hope
participants receive assistance in locating housing and a rental
subsidy. Case management & support services are also provided.

THP Plus
A transitional housing program opportunity for emancipated foster
youth, ages 18-24, who emancipated from the child
welfare or probation system. Participants may live alone
or with roommates in apartments with regular support provided by THP
Plus agency staff and ILP coordinators. Support services
include regular visits to participants' residences; educational
guidance; employment counseling; and assistance in reaching self
identified goals as outlined in each youths Transitional Independent
Living Plan (STEP-TILP).
