San Joaquin County is seeking a proven leader to lead and manage the Agricultural Commissioner's Office.
The Agricultural Commissioner plans, organizes, directs and administers the agricultural and weights and measures inspection and enforcement programs in accordance with state regulations and requirements. The incumbent is appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a renewable term of four years and is responsible for carrying out State programs under the administration of the California Secretary of Food and Agriculture. The Agricultural Commissioner leads, manages and administers the programs, functions, budgets and activities of the Agricultural Commissioners Office. The incumbent is expected to provide executive and strategic management to the department and must model a strong work ethic and leadership skills, including accountability for oneself and others.
This position is exempt from the San Joaquin County Civil Service system. Appointments to exempt positions in San Joaquin County are at-will and not governed by the Civil Service Rules.
