Notes Of Interest-- Non-Emergency Events
17-Apr-2015 Week of April 19-25 Mosquito & Vector Control Week

The week of April 19-25 (Sunday through Saturday) is the Statewide "West Nile Virus and Mosquito and Vector Control Awareness Week." See State media release.

San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors Proclamation

West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne disease that can result in debilitating cases and encephalitis and death to humans, horses, avian species, and other wildlife; and the State Department of Public Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predict West Nile virus will again pose a public health threat in California in 2015.

West Nile Virus and Mosquito and Vector Control Awareness Week will increase the public's awareness of the threat of West Nile virus and other diseases and the activities of mosquito and vector research and control agencies working to minimize the health threat within California, and will highlight the educational programs currently available.

The County of San Joaquin will support San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District in participating in efforts to increase public awareness of West Nile Virus and Mosquito and Vector threats and preparedness. Each day, we will post different topics and tips on our Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
