Joaquin County ONLY uses Basel Action Network (BAN) e-Stewards® Recyclers to properly
manage the disposal of your electronics. BAN e-Stewards® Recyclers are rigorously
audited and certified, so you can rest assured that when you bring your electronic devices
to County facilities or County-sponsored events, all data
is destroyed and all materials are managed properly. |

Electronic Waste or E-Waste
Electronics are the fastest growing portion of the
municipal waste stream in the country. These items include
televisions, radios, stereos, cell phones - just about anything with a
circuit board, which is just about anything these days. Electronic waste or “e-waste” is
banned from being disposed in the trash in California because the devices
contain toxic heavy metals including lead, cadmium and mercury. According
to US EPA, at least 40 percent of the lead in landfills comes from discarded
electronics.
Almost anything considered “electronic” can harm human health
and the environment if improperly disposed, including:

San Joaquin Household Hazardous Waste Facility
San Joaquin County residents can take up to five SMALL consumer
electronic devices per trip to the San Joaquin County Household
Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility for recycling and proper disposal.
Small devices include monitors less than a 17 inch screen size and items
such as cell phones, answering machine, radios, small printers and

San Joaquin County Sponsored Events are available for residents to recycle

Businesses can utilize the following resources to properly
dispose of Electronic Waste:
ONSITE Electronics Recycling
ONSITE electronics is the approved collector for San Joaquin County
electronic waste. They may accept electronics from small businesses
