Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility & Transfer Station
serving Stockton, Tracy, Lodi, Manteca, Ripon, Lathrop, Escalon and San Joaquin County


 

Background

Lovelace materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station is owned and operated by San Joaquin County. The facility was purchased on July 1, 1977 and remodeled during 1994 and 1995.  Lovelace encompasses 15 acres. This site receives an average of 499 tons of waste daily, which is transported to Foothill Sanitary Landfill, on County-owned transfer trucks carrying loads of up to 22 tons per truck. During the year 2011, Lovelace received 123,406 tons of waste.

San Joaquin County's other facilities include the North County Recycling Center & Sanitary Landfill, Foothill Sanitary Landfill and the San Joaquin County Household Hazardous Waste Consolidation Facility.

Gates open daily from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 4:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

NOTE : THE 4:00 P.M. CLOSING TIME AT THIS FACILITY IS STRICTLY ENFORCED. PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLOSING TO ALLOW YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME TO UNLOAD.

Acceptable Materials

 
  • Commercial and household waste

  • Construction/demolition waste

  • Agricultural waste

  • White goods such as refrigerators, freezers,
    and air conditioning units

  • Tires (mounted or unmounted)

  • Camper Shells

  • Cabover campers (remove all thermostats and appliances)

  • Camper trailers less than 25 feet in length (remove thermostats and appliances, dismantle the camper trailer into small sections, and bring a Junk Slip from DMV).

Unacceptable Materials

 

  • Septic tank waste

  • Toxic materials

  • Dead animals

  • Five-gallon (or larger) drums

  • Infectious waste

  • Liquid waste

  • Cannery waste

  • Large stumps

  • Large amounts of dirt or fill

  • Hazardous waste

  • Loads of soil or gravel

  • Mobile homes

  • RVs; camper trailers greater than 25 feet that are NOT dismantled into small sections

  • Burned waste

  • Items of sufficient weight, mass, hardness or difficulty in processing that may damage facility equipment

Tarping Requirements

All loads must be properly covered or tarped so that flying debris is avoided. 

Loads not properly covered or tarped will be charged  a DOUBLE disposal fee.
