Medications:
Over the counter and prescription
medicine, drugs and medications contain
hazardous substances that can threaten human health and the environment if
improperly disposed. A 2002 study by the United States Geological
Survey found that 80% of our streams are contaminated with prescription
drugs, including steroids and hormones. Help protect our water supply
by properly disposing of unwanted or expired medications.
There is NO COST for San
Joaquin County residents to drop off these materials at the
HHW Facility for proper
disposal.
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE THESE ITEMS IN THE GARBAGE
OR FLUSH DOWN TOILETS OR DRAINS!
